You are invited to join Dr. Christina Long on a musical sojourn entitled
"Exotic Inspiration" featuring piano music of Schumann, Scarlatti, Mozart, Liszt, Mendelssohn, MacDowell, Debussy, Griffes and Sczymanowski.
Nowadays we hear news, see pictures, or take trips to explore the world. Composers use music to express their emotions and thoughts inspired by foreign lands and people. In this concert, you will hear how musicians kept their “musical blogs”. These could be memories from taking actual trips, just reading some literature, seeing a painting, or hearing unique sounds. The recital will provide opportunities for us to travel aurally to exotic lands. That is the power of art! It will take us to places that we have never been.

From a musical family of Taiwan, pianist Dr. Christina Long has performed in 26 states across the USA, as well as Canada, China, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Poland, Taiwan, Turkey and Uruguay. She has served as Artist-In-Residence in Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Assistant Professor of Piano at Westfield State University (Massachusetts), and Tabor College (Kansas).
She was the First Prize winner of the Kingsville International Young Performer’s Competition. She and her sister’s two piano ensemble, Long Duo, has placed first prize and earned the Best Performance of American Music Award in the Duo Piano Competition by the National Federation of Music Clubs. Their diverse style and eloquent musicianship has “put new life into duo piano recitals". (Washington Post) Their performances were broadcast on National Public Radio, WQXR New York, WRR Dallas, and CBC Canada.
