Tuning and Tone
Pitch raise or lower to the correct pitch if necessary
Seat the strings at the bearing points
Tune to correct pitch
Check and correct for evenness of voicing throughout the scale
Touch and Action Performance
Check tightness of action screws
Check touch weight on sample keys (Avg. down _____ Avg. up ______)
Lubricate action parts if necessary
Check for ringing dampers, damper follow-through, and pedal efficiency
Check the key level and dip
Evaluate let-off and checking on sample groups of keys
Check individual pedal performance
Case & Appearance
Check and tighten representative case screws
Check areas that may vibrate including:
- Lid and lid props
- Caster components
- Fallboard and hardware
- Front Casters floating above the floor (uprights)
Colors nicks and scratches or advise Service Department of further work.
Check for keys binding on the key slip
Check for debris in the case
